How you can help

Support/Donation

As a national initiative, we urge and welcome corporate sponsors and partners to help us equip literacy organisations and reading clubs across the country. There are so many different ways to get involved − from starting or supporting a reading club, helping us to supply reading materials, or simply sharing information about Nal’ibali and why reading and telling stories is a great thing to do with children.

Corporate support

As a national initiative, we urge and welcome corporate sponsors and partners to help us equip literacy organisations and reading clubs across the country. Working together we are starting to nurture and sustain the kinds of conditions that help all children grow the confidence, creativity and skills they need to become knowledgeable, literate citizens.

Reading clubs

This is for all of us! Moms, dads, grandparents, teachers, librarians, volunteers, caregivers, students and all reading enthusiasts: open up new worlds for children by inviting them into the magic world of stories and books! Or, why not get your colleagues involved? Support an existing Nal’ibali Reading Club near you or help start a company-sponsored one at a nearby school, church or library.

Gifts-in-kind

While cuddles, smiles, stories and songs help turn informal spaces into welcoming ones where children love to be, equipment like cushions, book boxes, mats and stationery, as well as food, money for outings, and transport subsidies are needed.

Publishers & authors

Consider partnering with us to develop low-cost editions of your most popular children’s books in different South African languages. Do you have overstocked children’s titles that you could donate? We welcome a range of children’s books to include in book packs distributed to reading clubs and literacy organisations in the Nal’ibali network.

Individual Support

If you don’t have time to start your own reading club, don’t worry! There are many other ways you can support Nal’ibali and help build a generation of children who love to read.
